"That one trip to Somnathpur" is an illustrated travel journal which talks about the ups, the downs and the roller coaster rides that ensue on my travels. The book illustrates real life experiences with a quirky illustration style, to bring out the humor in the story

Each and every page of the book is hand illustrated and uses a set of colors that best depict the emotion felt during that scene

Opportunity for the project:

In the context of ancient India, narrative architecture has been widely adopted as a medium for storytelling. Each panel in an ancient temple had a story to tell. The story could simply be an anecdote or an entire epic represented by intricate carvings.

Hence to promote Indian history, its temples, and various other heritage sites, I am introducing an illustrated travel journal that briefs readers on the background and meaning behind the temple and its architecture with some fun anecdotes. This is to appeal to tourists/visitors, within the 13-30 year-old age bracket, who come from different parts of the world to learn more about Indian history and architecture.

Objectives:

  • To present Indian culture and tradition in a fresh perspective, which is relatable to the teenagers and youth of India.

  • To increase awareness of Indian culture and history.

  • Increase the number of tourist visits to historical sites.

  • To provide consolidated and simplified information on the temple.

  • To document information that is indigenous and otherwise unknown.

  • To give a warm, personal experience of reading and knowing about the space you are present in.
