DANCE BASANTI

Dance Basanti is an experimental mixed-media piece that is part of my personal project. This piece is targeted at young girls in the rural areas of India, where, unfortunately, some girls do not have an opportunity for education. The illustration aims to encourage little girls to dream big, achieve their ambitions, and realise their potential is limitless, even beyond the skies of this planet.

The character in the illustration is a confident and determined woman, leaping into outer-space to achieve her goals. She is dressed in traditional Indian attire. This is to help little girls understand that a person who looks like them and dresses like them has equal potential to do anything and everything they set their mind to.
